올드 스쿨 룬스케이프는 모험 요소를 갖춘 MMORPG이다.플레이어가 서로 교류할 수 있는 끈질긴 세계와 환경이 특징이다.기본 역학은 2007년 8월 10일의 RuneScape와 대체로 동일하다.플레이어는 단일(인간) 캐릭터를 제어하며, 많은 오브젝트가 둘 이상의 인터랙션 옵션을 제공할 수 있기 때문에 마우스 왼쪽 단추로 클릭하거나 오브젝트의 오른쪽 클릭 메뉴에서 옵션을 선택하여 게임 세계의 NPC, 오브젝트 및 엔티티와 상호작용할 수 있다.사용자는 경험치(확장)를 획득하고 개별 스킬을 레벨링할 수 있어 플레이 가능한 캐릭터가 더 강력하거나 그 스킬을 사용할 수 있게 된다.[2]

계절경쟁

데드먼 모드

데드먼 모드는 2015년 10월 29일 출시한 올드스쿨 룬스케이프([37]Old School RuneScape)의 별도 화신으로 오픈월드 대 플레이어 전투, 가속화된 경험률 등이 특징이다.만약 한 선수가 다른 선수를 죽이면, 승리자는 그들이 희생자의 계정에서 물건을 약탈할 수 있도록 가슴의 열쇠를 받는다.다른 선수들을 전투에 참여시키는 선수들은 두개골 아이콘으로 표시될 것이다 – "스컬링된" 선수들은 그들이 안전한 도시로 들어가려고 하면 NPC의 공격을 받게 될 것이고, 그들이 들고 있는 키의 수는 다른 선수들에게 명백한 표적이 될 것이다.[16]데드먼 모드에서 사망한 선수들은 선수가 선택한 5가지 스킬을 제외한 모든 스킬에서 경험치의 상당 부분을 잃게 된다.[38]
