디히드로피리미디나아제는 피리미딘 대사 중 5,6-디히드로우라실3-우레이도프로피온산 전환을 촉매한다.디히드로피리미디나아제는 간 및 신장에서 2.5kb의 주요 전사물 및 3.8kb의 마이너 전사물로서 고레벨로 발현된다.DPYS 유전자의 결함은 디히드로피리미딘뇨증[6]관련이 있다.
