Sanctity of life

종교와 윤리학에서 생명의 불가침, 즉 생명의 신성성은 신성하거나 신성하거나 그 밖에 침해당하지 않는 그런 가치의 지각적인 삶의 양상에 관한 묵시적 보호의 원칙이다. 이것은 동물과 인간 또는 미생물에 모두 적용될 수 있다. 예를 들어, 아힘사를 행하는 종교에서는 둘 다 거룩하고 삶의 가치가 있는 것으로 여겨진다. 그 가치는 내재되어 있다: 생명체는 자궁(혹은 자궁을 흉내내기 위한 인위적인 환경)에서 만들어진다.

생명의 신성함이란 말은 인간의 생명이 신성하고 신성하며 귀중하다는 생각을 말한다. 인간이 생명을 창조할 수 없기 때문에 생명의 신성함은 내재되어 있다. 그러므로 인간은 생명을 파괴할 권위가 없다. 그것이 인류가 존재할 수 있는 유일한 방법이다. 비록 이 구절이 주로 19세기에 개신교 담론에서 사용되었지만, 제2차 세계대전 이후 이 구절은 가톨릭의 도덕 신학에서 사용되었고, 복음주의 기독교의 도덕적 수사인 Roe 대 Wade에 이어 사용되었다.[1]

흔히 '삶의 질'과 어느 정도 대비되는 생명 원리의 신성함은 모든 가톨릭교도가 십계명 중 여섯 번째 계명에 대해 가르치는 기본이다.[2][3][4][5]

동양종교에서는

서구사상에서 생명의 신성함은 보통 인간 종(인류중심주의, 때로는 지배주의라고 불리기도 함)에만 적용되는데, 이는 흔히 모든 동물의 생명이 신성하다고 주장하는 동양철학의 많은 학파와는 현저한 대조를 이루며, 어떤 경우에는 자이나교의 개업자들이 나를 쓸어버릴 붓을 들고 다닌다.그들이 무심코 밟히지 않도록 그들의 길에서 갈라진 것.[6]
