이 유전자는 아스타신 유사 아연 의존성 금속단백질가수분해효소를 코드하고 메츠신시 계열의 아족이다. 생쥐의 유사한 단백질은 심장 발달 중에 필요하며,[6] 특히 유사한 절단 부위에서 프로콜라겐 C-프로펩타이드와 코딘 을 처리 한다.
