RAD51C 단백질은 RAD51B(RAD51L1) RAD51C(RAD51L2) RAD51D(RAD51L3) XRCC2 XRC3 등 RAD51의 5개 파라로그 중 하나이다.그들은 각각 RAD51과 서로 약 25% 아미노산 염기서열 정체성을 공유한다.[7]

위암의 경우 종양의 약 40%~50%에서 RAD51C의 발현저하가 발견되었으며, RAD51C 발현저하가 있는 거의 모든 종양에는 RAD51C 발현자의 메틸화가 있었다.[21]반면 RAD51C 프로모터의 메틸레이션은 난소암 환자 중 약 1.5%에서만 발견됐다.[17]
