GEM(Global Emerging Markets)이라는 약자로 더 잘 알려진 글로벌 신흥 시장(Global Emerging Markets)은 제너럴 모터스(GM)가 개발도상국 시장에서 판매하는 다양한 차량에 사용하는 자동차 플랫폼의 명칭으로,[1] 대부분의 소비자들에게는 너무 비싸다.

특히 GEM의 개발은 GM의 합작사인 SAIC-GM이 [2]주로 중국에서 진행했다.GM-SAIC 합작법인 PAN Asia Technical Automotive Center(PATAC)[3]에 의해 개발되었습니다.보도에 따르면 GM은 [4]약 50억 달러의 비용을 들여 이 플랫폼을 구축했으며,[5][6] 2017년 유럽과 아프리카의 수익성이 낮은 여러 시장을 퇴출함으로써 자금의 대부분을 축적했다.

역사
