오리스 C.허핀달
Orris C.오르리스 클레멘스 헤르핀달(Orris Clemens Herfindahl, 1918년 6월 15일 노스다코타주 파샬에서 - 1972년 12월 16일 네팔을[1] 여행하면서)은 천연자원을 연구한 경제학자였다.그러나 그는 컬럼비아대 재학 시절 1950년 철강산업에 관한 박사학위 논문에서 제시한 농도지수(헤르핀달 지수)의 발명자로 주로 알려져 있다.[2][3][4]사실 비슷한 지수(제곱근의 추가)는 일찍이 알버트 오에 의해 (1945년) 제안되었다. 허쉬먼.[5]따라서 보통 헤르핀달-히르슈만 지수라고 한다.
