이 기사에는 태양계에서 가장 질량이 큰 천체들의 목록과 관측된 평균 반경을 기준으로 더 작은 천체들의 부분 목록이 포함되어 있습니다. 이러한 목록은 물체의 반지름과 질량에 따라 정렬할 수 있으며, 가장 무거운 물체의 경우 부피, 밀도 및 표면 중력에 따라 정렬할 수 있습니다.
이 목록에는 태양, 행성, 왜소행성, 더 큰 태양계 천체(소행성 포함), 모든 이름이 붙여진 자연 위성, 그리고 혜성과 지구 근처 천체와 같은 역사적 또는 과학적으로 관심이 있는 많은 작은 천체들이 포함되어 있습니다.
많은 해왕성 횡단 천체(TNO)가 발견되었습니다. 많은 경우 지구와의 거리 때문에 추정 직경에 큰 불확실성이 있는 경우가 많기 때문에 이 목록에서 그들의 위치는 대략적입니다.
태양계 10kg21 이상의 질량을 가진 물체는 대략 구형으로 알려져 있거나 예상됩니다. 천체는 물질의 구조적 강도를 극복하기 위해 중력이 충분할 때 둥근 모양으로 이완하여 유체 정역학적 평형을 이룹니다. 둥근 물체의 화장에 얼음이 많이 들어있다면, 그들은 반지름이 100 km에서 200 km 사이에 있다고 믿었지만,[1] 이후의 연구들은 이아페투스(지름이 1,470 km)만큼 큰 얼음 위성들은 현재 유체 평형 상태에 있지 않다고 밝혔습니다.[2] 그리고 2019년의 평가에 따르면, 400-1,000 킬로미터의 크기 범위에 있는 많은 TNO들은 완전한 고체가 아닐 수도 있으며, 이는 훨씬 덜 중력에 의해 둥근 것일 수도 있습니다.[3] 자체 중력으로 인해 타원체인 물체는 오늘날 실제로 평형 상태에 있는지 여부에 관계없이 일반적으로 "원형"이라고 하며, 타원체가 아닌 물체는 "불규칙"이라고 합니다.
구상체는 일반적으로 회전으로 인한 원심력으로 인해 약간의 극성 평탄화를 가지며, 때로는 상당히 다른 적도 직경(하우메아와 같은 스칼렌 타원체)을 가질 수 있습니다. 하우메아(Haumea)와 같은 신체와 달리 불규칙한 신체는 타원체가 아닌 프로필을 가지고 있으며 종종 날카로운 가장자리를 가지고 있습니다.
토성 너머에 있는 일반적인 물체의 경우 지름을 결정하는 데 어려움이 있을 수 있습니다. (예로서 2060 키론 참조) TNO의 경우 지름에 대한 신뢰도는 어느 정도 있지만, 이진법이 아닌 TNO의 경우 질량/밀도에 대한 신뢰도는 없습니다. 많은 TNO들은 종종 명왕성의 밀도가 2.0g/cm라고3 가정하지만, 혜성과 같은 밀도가 0.5g/cm에3 불과할 가능성이 있습니다.[4]
예를 들어 밀도가 2g/cm인3 반지름 350km를 기준으로 TNO의 질량이 3.59×10kg이라고20 잘못 가정했지만 나중에 0.5g/cm인3 반지름이 175km에 불과한 것으로 밝혀지면 실제 질량은 1.12×10kg에19 불과합니다.
목성과 토성의 많은 위성들의 크기와 질량은 갈릴레오 궤도선과 카시니 궤도선의 수많은 관측과 상호작용으로 인해 상당히 잘 알려져 있습니다. 그러나 목성의 히말리아와 같이 반경이 ~100 km 미만인 위성들의 대부분은 특정 질량이 훨씬 적습니다.[5] 토성에서 더 멀리 떨어진 곳에서는 물체의 크기와 질량이 덜 명확합니다. 천왕성이나 해왕성 주변에는 아직 그들의 위성을 장기간 연구할 수 있는 궤도선이 존재하지 않습니다. 보이저 2호 플라이바이로 발견되지 않은 시코락스와 같은 천왕성의 작은 외부 불규칙 위성의 경우, 심지어 국립 우주 과학 데이터 센터와[6] JPL 태양계 역학과 같은 다른 NASA 웹 페이지도 [5]어떤 연구 논문이 인용되는지에 따라 다소 상반된 크기와 알베도 추정치를 제공합니다.
질량과 반지름에 대한 수치에는 불확실성이 있고, 모양과 밀도에는 불규칙성이 있으며, 정확성은 물체가 지구에 얼마나 가까운지 또는 탐사선에 의해 방문되었는지에 따라 종종 달라집니다.

반경이 400km 이상인 물체
다음 물체의 평균 반경은 최소 400km입니다. 반지름이 약 200 km 이상인 얼음 물체는 유체 정역학적 평형(HE)에 있을 가능성이 높다고 한때 예상되었습니다.[7] 그러나 세레스(r = 470 km)는 상세한 측정이 정수 평형과 일치하는 가장 작은 물체인 반면, 이아페투스(r = 735 km)는 정수 평형에 있지 않은 것으로 밝혀진 가장 큰 얼음 물체입니다. 이 지역에 있는 알려진 얼음 위성들은 모두 타원체(프로테우스 제외)이지만, 해왕성 횡단 천체들은 반경 450-500 km까지 매우 다공성일 수 있습니다.[10]
단순화 및 비교 목적을 위해 신체가 모두 구면이라고 가정하여 값을 수동으로 계산합니다. 고체의 크기에는 물체의 대기가 포함되어 있지 않습니다. 예를 들어, 타이탄은 가니메데보다 더 커 보이지만 단단한 몸체는 더 작습니다. 거대 행성의 경우, "반지름"은 중심에서 대기압 1bar에 도달하는 거리로 정의됩니다.[11]
세드나와 2002 MS에는4 알려진 위성이 없기 때문에 탐사선을 보내지 않고는 질량을 직접 측정하는 것이 불가능합니다(세드나의[12] 경우 1.7x1021 ~ 6.1x1021 kg으로 추정됨).

평균 반지름으로 더 작은 개체
200km에서 399km까지
프로테우스를 제외하고 반지름이 200km 이상인 모든 이미지의 얼음 위성은 분명하게 둥글지만, 400km 미만의 위성은 그 모양이 주의 깊게 측정된 것이 유체정역학적 평형 상태에 있지 않습니다.[57] 이 크기 범위에서 알려진 TNO의 밀도는 현저히 낮으며(1~1.2g/cm3), 이는 물체가 형성될 때부터 상당한 내부 공극률을 유지하고 있으며, 중력으로 완전히 고체 상태의 물체로 압축된 적이 없음을 의미합니다.[10]

100km부터 199km까지
이 목록에는 반경 100~199km(직경 200~399km)로 추정되는 물체가 포함되어 있습니다. 이들 중 가장 큰 것은 정수평형 모양일 수 있지만 대부분은 불규칙합니다. 반경이 200km보다 작은 것으로 나열된 대부분의 네프투니아 횡단 물체(TNO)는 너무 멀리 떨어져 있어 기존 기기로 직접 크기를 측정할 수 없기 때문에 "일반 알베도 0.09를 기준으로 가정한 크기"를 가지고 있습니다. 질량 스위치는 10kg에서21 10kg18(Zg)로 바뀝니다. JPL 태양계 역학(JPLSSD)에 따르면 메인 벨트 소행성은 (2.0 AU < a < 3.2 AU; q > 1.666 AU)에 의해 제한된 궤도 요소를 가지고 있습니다.[98] 많은 TNO는 크기가 잘 알려져 있지 않기 때문에 이 목록에서 제외됩니다.[58]
