휴즈 리프(만다린 중국어: 東門礁/东门礁; 피닌: Dongmén Jiao, 베트남어: đa Tư Nghĩa)는 PRC(중국), ROC(대만), 필리핀, 말레이시아, 베트남이 주장하는 남중국해 섬 스프래틀리 그룹의 유니언 뱅크스의 암초다. 썰물 때는 물 위에 있을 뿐이다.[1]

PRC는 암초에 있는 토지를 개간하여 그 면적을 7.6헥타르까지 가져왔고 암초를 점령했다.[2] 그 암초에는 두 개의 저장성 방어 초소 위에 등대가[3] 있다.[4]

지세

2016년 7월 12일, 상설 중재 재판소는 휴즈 리프가 썰물 때 노출되고 만조 때 물에 잠겼으며, 따라서 그 저층 고도는 영해, 배타적 경제수역 또는 대륙붕에 대한 권리를 생성하지 않는다고 결론지었다.[5]

군사 개발

2016년 말 휴즈 리프가 대공 무기와 CIWS 미사일방어(CIWS) 체계로 무장해 왔음을 암시하는 사진이 등장했다.[6]
