웹스터의 신세계 미국어 사전은 1951년과 2022년부터 하퍼 콜린스 출판사가 처음 출판한 미국 사전입니다.[1]

개요

첫 번째 판은 오하이오주 클리블랜드의 월드 출판사에서 큰 백과사전 섹션을 포함하여 2권 또는 1권의 큰 권으로 출판되었습니다. 1953년, 월드는 백과사전적인 자료 없이 한 권짜리 대학판(웹스터의 신세계 대학 사전)을 출판했습니다. Joseph H. Friend와 David B가 편집했습니다. 구랄니크는[2][3][4] 142,000점의 자료를 포함하고 있었는데, 당시 사용 가능한 가장 큰 미국 탁상용 사전이라고 합니다.

제목이 노아 웹스터를 언급하지만, 이 작업은 실제로 노아 웹스터의 원본 출판물에서 직접 파생된 메리엄-웹스터 회사에서 출판한 웹스터 사전 시리즈와 관련이 없습니다. 대조적으로, 웹스터의 신세계 사전은 웹스터를 모든 미국 영어 사전의 총칭으로 인용할 뿐이며, Random House의 웹스터의 요약되지 않은 사전과 파생된 사전의 라인도 마찬가지입니다.
