함수 원산지 인식 콤플렉스 (ORC)는 진핵세포에서 DNA 복제를 시작하는 데 필수적인 6개의 서브유닛 단백질 콤플렉스다.효모에 대한 연구는 ORC가 복제의 기원에 특별히 결합하고 있으며 Cdc6 와 Mcm 단백질과 같은 추가 개시 인자의 조립을 위한 플랫폼 역할을 한다는 것을 입증했다. 이 유전자에 의해 인코딩된 단백질은 ORC 복합체의 서브 유닛이다. 이 단백질은 ORC3 , ORC4 , ORC5 와 함께 핵심 복합체를 형성한다. 또한 DNA 복제의 시작에 중요한 것으로 알려진 단백질인 CDC45L , MCM10과도 상호작용한다. 이 단백질은 인간 세포에서 엡스타인-바르 바이러스의 복제 원점과 특별히 연관되어 있다는 것이 증명되었으며, 복제의 바이러스 원점에서 DNA 복제가 필요한 것으로 생각된다.[6]
