주 18번 국도(SR 18)는 147마일(237km) 길이의 주 고속도로로 미국 조지아 주 서부와 중부에 있는 트루프, 해리스, 메리웨더, 파이크, 라마르, 먼로, 존스, 윌킨슨, 트위그스 카운티의 일부를 거쳐 서쪽에서 동쪽으로 이동한다.이 고속도로는 앨라배마 주 노선의 바로 동쪽에 위치한 웨스트 포인트의 29/SR 14와 제퍼슨빌의 80/SR 19/SR 96을 파인 마운틴, 그린빌, 제불론, 반즈빌, 포사이스, 그레이, 고든을 거쳐 제퍼슨빌에 연결한다.

경로 설명

SR 18은 트루프 카운티의 웨스트 포인트에 있는 서쪽 종착지에서 동쪽으로 이동하여 웨스트 포인트의 바로 동쪽에 있는 I-85를 가로지르고 약간 남쪽에 있는 해리스 카운티로 빨려들어간다. 해리스 카운티는 I-185를 가로지르며 메리웨더 카운티와 함께 카운티 라인의 파인 마운틴으로 이어진다.북동쪽으로 방향을 튼 SR 18은 Meriweder County 중심부의 Greenville로 이동하며, Greenville 남쪽 교차로에서 Greenville 시내로 US 27/SR 1과 동시에 이동하며, SR 18은 SR 109와 동시에, Woodbury로 이동한다.

동쪽으로 방향을 바꿔 파이크 현으로 건너간 이 노선은 다시 북동쪽으로 돌아서 SR 109와의 동시성이 끝나는 몰레나를 거쳐 콩코드로 이동하며, 거기서 동쪽으로 커브를 돌다가 제불론까지 이동한다.남동쪽으로 다시 한 번 커브를 돌면서 SR 18은 라마르 카운티를 가로지르며 반즈빌을 오가며 US 41/SR 7과 동시통신을 시작한 뒤 먼로 카운티의 포사이스로 들어가 US 41과의 동시통신을 끝내고 포사이스에서 떠난 직후 I-75를 가로지른다.이 고속도로는 동쪽으로 존스 카운티까지 이어져 그레이로 진입하는데, 이 고속도로는 잠시 동안 US 129, SR 11, SR 22와 동시통행되며 윌킨슨 카운티의 고든 방향으로 남동쪽으로 한 번 더 돌아간다.

역사

1920년대에서 1940년대

1950년대에서 2000년대

1949년 4월부터 1950년 8월 사이에 해리스 시티-그린스빌 부문에 US 27 알트가 지정되었다.두 개의 세그먼트가 표면화되었는데, Zebulon-Barnesvil 세그먼트와 Forsyth-Gray 세그먼트의 먼로 카운티 서부 부분이었다.[25][26]1952년 초에 이르러 이 마지막 부분의 (동쪽 끝을 제외한) 동부 전체가 딱딱한 표면으로 모습을 드러냈다.[26][27]1953년, 이 부분의 극동쪽 끝부분도 어렵게 표면화되었다.[28][29]1954년 6월과 1955년 6월 사이에 고든 남쪽에서 제퍼슨빌까지 SR 18의 부분이 표면화되었다.[30][31]1957년 7월까지 그레이의 서남서쪽 부분도 표면화되었다.[31][32]1960년 6월과 1963년 6월 사이에 포사이스-그레이 부분의 주네스 카운티 부분이 어렵게 표면화되었다.[33][34]1966년 초까지, 알도라의 SR 18에서 반즈빌 남쪽의 번호 없는 도로까지 반즈빌의 남남서 우회도로의 남부가 제안되었다.[34][35]1967년 우회도로는 미국 341/SR 7의 일부로 건설되었다.[36][37] 1986년 SR 18의 경로가 반즈빌에서 다시 보급되었다. SR 18의 경로는 미국 341/SR 7에서 북쪽으로 이동했고, 그 후 미국 41에서 남동쪽으로 이동했다.[38][39]1993년에 SR 932로 지정된 그레이의 남쪽 우회도로의 일부가 시의 남서부에 있는 US 129/SR 11/SR 18/SR 22에서 남동부에 있는 SR 18으로 제안되었다.[40][41]5년 후 그리핀에서 SR 18의 경로가 남하하여 SR 932의 제안 경로를 대체하였다.[42][43]2007년 반즈빌 지역의 US 41/SR 18의 경로가 남쪽으로 이동하면서 현재의 북부 종착역까지 US 341/SR 7의 경로가 끊겼다.[44][45]

주 18번 스퍼(SR 18 Spur)는 고든의 도시 경계 내에 완전히 존재했던 SR 18의 스퍼 경로였다.1963년 6월부터 1966년 초 사이에 SR 18에서 SR 243까지 설립되었다.[34][35]2012년, 이 자극적인 노선은 해체되었다.[46][47]
