배경

특수강도방지단(SARS)은 나이지리아 경찰대의 주범죄수사정보부(SCIID) 산하 지부였다.무장강도, 납치 등 강력범죄에 연루된 사람들을 구속 수사하고 기소하기 위해 설립된 국군범죄수사정보부 14개 부대 중 하나로 1992년 말 창설됐다.[16]이 분대는 무장 강도, 차량 탈취, 납치, 소 바스락거리는 소리, 불법 총기 소지 및 사용과 같은 강력범죄에 대한 잠복 작전을 수행하기 위해 복면경찰대로 창설되었다.[17]

사스는 여러 인권침해, 불법적인 "정지와 수색", 불법 체포와 구금, 사법적 살인, 여성에 대한 성희롱, 그리고 젊은 남성 나이지리아인들에 대한 잔혹행위로 기소되었다.인권 유린 사건은 소셜 미디어의 트렌드 동영상에 기록되었다.[18]

초기 항의 및 대응

나이지리아 정부의 대응

10월 9일

나이지리아 라고스의 휴식 시위대

10월 10일

10월 14일
