엘름허스트 공원은 뉴욕시 퀸즈 엘름허스트에 위치한 6.22에이커(2.52ha)의 공원입니다.이 장소는 이전에 엘름허스트 가스탱크(공식적으로는 뉴타운 홀더 스테이션)가 있던 곳으로 높이가 61m에 달하는 대형 천연가스 저장 가스계였다.이 지역은 남쪽으로 57번가와 롱아일랜드 고속도로, 북쪽으로 그랜드 애비뉴, 서쪽으로 CSX가 운영하는 프레몬트 세컨더리, 동쪽으로 80번가와 접해 있습니다.[1]이 공원은 뉴욕시 공원 [2]레크리에이션국이 소유하고 운영한다.
가스 탱크

공원

엘름허스트 공원 북동쪽 모퉁이에 있는 285만 달러의 베트남전 참전용사 기념비인 퀸즈 베트남 참전용사 기념비가 2017년 [10]6월에 발표되었다.2000년대 중반부터 기획과 모금에 들어갔지만 2018년 [11][12]12월 착공했다.그 기념비는 이듬해 12월에 [13][14]헌정되었다.이 반원형 기념비에는 전쟁에서 [15]싸우다 사망한 371명의 퀸즈 주민의 이름이 새겨져 있다.

The Elmhurst tanks — those 200-foot monoliths that stood sentinel to the changing landscape of Queens and as harbingers of hair-tearing delay on the highway to Manhattan — are down, deflated forever, their skeletal remains waiting to be dismantled.
