팬타시 엔터테인먼트 콤플렉스는 1980년대 초부터 클리블랜드 음악계의 주종이었다.[1] 팬타시는 전국적으로 인정받는 밴드 앤 E를 출시하는데 도움을 주었다. 데장트, 데보, 이국적인 새, 필터, 럭키 피에르, 어른들, 이교도들, 칼부림 웨스트워드, 나인 인치 네일의 데뷔지였다.[2][3][4] 그것은 또한 이기 팝, 예수 그리고 메리 체인, 더 포그스, 싸이키델릭 퍼스, 라몬스 그리고 심령 TV와 같은 다른 주요 행위들의 종착역이었고 레스타트를 포함한 밴드들을 위한 재결합 쇼들을 주최했다.[5]

역사

판타지 네이트 클럽, 더 챔버, 심포지엄, 판타지 극장으로 구성된 판타지 엔터테인먼트 콤플렉스는 홈스테드 극장으로 알려진 1918년에 처음 문을 열었다. 이 극장은 1979년까지 영화를 상영했고 어느 순간 디트로이트 극장으로 일컬어졌다. 1976년에서 1977년 사이에 그것은 The Last Picture Show라고 불렸다. 80년대에 이 극장은 대안, 고트, 산업 록 그룹들을 중심으로 팬타시(Fantasy)로 이름이 바뀌었다.

존 드 프라시아는 1965년 피카딜리 광장 안에 레스토랑을 열면서 이 단지를 매입했다. 1962년 영화 '바운티 온 더 바운티'를 본 뒤 드 프라시아는 식당 안에 해적선을 만들어 1973년 음악 클럽으로 개종했다.[6] 배 한쪽은 DJ 부스로, 후반부는 사운드 스테이지로 활용된다. 단지 벽면에는 개장 이후 단지에 등장한 대부분의 밴드의 초기 신파 포스터와 스티커가 부착돼 있다.

마이클 J. 폭스와 조안 제트는 영화 '빛의 날'의 시사회를 하루 앞둔 1987년 팬타시 극장에서 공연을 했다.[7]

같은 단지 내에서 The Chamber 댄스 클럽은 DJ Cable과 Michelle De Frasia의 공동 관리 하에 1996년에[8] 시작되었고 이후 Alternative, Goth, Industrial 하위 문화의 지역 안식처가 되었다. The Chamber에 자주 들렀으며 이 지역에서 온 유명한 예술가로는 Andy Kubiszewski, Marilyn Manson, Kevin McMahon, Lorin Morgan-Richards, Larry Szyms, Textbeak 등이 있다.

2009년 이 단지는 영혼의 음성을 포착했다고 주장하는 초자연적 연구자들에 의해 조사되었다.[9]

2010년에는 불이 단지를 휩쓸었다.[10]

2015년 드 프라스아 가족은 판타지 네이트 클럽 단지가 매물로 나왔다고 발표했다.[11][12] 행사장 매각 협상이 2018년 막판에 무산됐다.[13] 2020년 6월 현재, 팬타시가 LGBTQ 커뮤니티 허브와 엔터테인먼트 단지가 되기 위한 계획은 거의 마무리 단계에 있다.[14] 2020년[15] 7월 8일 소유권이 Studio West 117 단지의 일부로 West 117 Development Pantasy LLC로 이전되었다.
