NGC 1282는 페르세우스 별자리에서 약 2억 3천만 광년 떨어진[3] 곳에 위치한 타원 은하다[2].[4]1884년 10월 23일 천문학자 기욤 비구르단에 의해 발견되었다.[5]NGC 1282는 페르세우스 성단의 일원이다.[5][6]

SN 2008fh로 지정된 Ia형 초신성이 2008년 7월 30일 [7][8]또는 8월 30일 NGC 1282[7] 근처에서 검출되었다.[9][10]하지만 이상하게도 초신성은 은하와 연관되지 않았다.[8]
