북한의 무신앙은 무신앙 국가로 공식 지정돼 국내에서 측정이 어렵다.[1] 북한 국가는 국가 주도의 공식적인 무신론과 주체사상이 추진하는 인격 숭배에서 벗어나는 사람들을 핍박한다.[2] 서구의 정의에 따르면 북한 사람들은 비종교적이라고 생각되지만 불교와 유교 전통은 여전히 북한 생활에 한 몫을 하고 있다.[11][excessive citations]
