쿠웨이트의 경우 2013년 출생 당시 기대수명이 남성이 78명, 여성이 79명이었다.[1]

사회 기반 시설

쿠웨이트 비전 2035의 일환으로 많은 새로운 병원들이 문을 열었다.[2][3][4] COVID-19 대유행으로 이어진 몇 년 동안 쿠웨이트는 대부분의 다른 GCC 국가들보다 비례적으로 높은 비율로 의료 시스템에 투자했다.[5] 이에 따라 공공병원 부문은 정원을 크게 늘렸다.[4][2][3] 쿠웨이트에는 현재 20개의 공립병원이 있다.[6][3] 새로운 셰이크 자베르 알 아흐마드 병원은 중동에서 가장 큰 병원으로 여겨진다.[7] 쿠웨이트에도 16개의 개인병원이 있다.[2]

비만

비만은 쿠웨이트에서 증가하고 있는 건강상의 걱정거리다. 포브스지에 따르면, 쿠웨이트는 2007년 쿠웨이트 전체 인구의 74.2%를 차지하는 가장 뚱뚱한 국가들 중 건강하지 않은 몸무게로 8위를 차지했다.[8] 2011년 쿠웨이트의 비만 수술 건수는 5000건이었다.[9]

1980년부터 1993년까지 과체중인 18~29세의 개인 비율은 30.6%에서 54.4%로, 과체중인 사람의 비율은 12.8%에서 24.6%[10]로 증가했다. 2000년에, 10-14세의 어린이들 사이에서, 남자아이들의 30%, 여자아이들의 31.8%가 과체중이라고 결정되었다.[11]

다스만 당뇨병 연구치료센터에 따르면 성인 인구의 15%가 당뇨병을 앓고 있으며 45세 이상 성인의 50%가 당뇨병을 앓고 있다. 100명당 22명의 어린이들이 건강하지 못한 체중으로 당뇨병에 걸렸다.[12]

건강에 좋지 않은 정크 푸드에 대한 광고는 흔하고 몇몇 학교들은 학생들에게 사탕, 초콜릿, 탄산음료를 판다.[13] 특히 쿠웨이트 대학의 경우, 다른 요인으로는 식사 사이에 식사하는 것, 결혼 여부, 스포츠의 남성 지배 등이 있다.[10]

공공장소에서의 흡연 금지는 1995년 법률 제15호에 의해 도입되었지만 엄격하게 시행되지는 않는다.[14] 2015년에 새로운 규정이 도입되었다.[15]

일반교통부는 운전 중 흡연이 주요 사고 원인 중 하나로 꼽히고 있어 운전 중 차량 안에서 흡연을 금지하는 내용의 법 시행을 검토 중이다.[16]
