섬광유리,[1] 즉 섬광유리는 하나 이상의[1][3][4] 얇은 유리로 무색의 유리를 코팅하여 만든 유리의[2] 일종이다.[5] 이것은 한 색의 녹은 유리 조각을 다른 색의 녹은 유리 조각에 넣은 다음 그 유리를 불어 넣는 것이다.[1][6]

유리용기에 사용되었을 뿐만 아니라 중세 이후 스테인드글라스를 만드는데 매우 널리 사용되어 왔으며, 종종 녹은 유리에 색을 입혀 시트 전체에 색을 입혀 만든 "포트 메탈 글라스"와 결합되어 사용되었다.

색유리는 부분적으로 또는 완전히 에칭될 수 있으며([7]산 노출 또는 샌드블라스팅을 통해) 색유리가 제거된 무색의 반점이 발생할 수 있다.[4]

섬광 유리는 다양한 색깔의 유리로 만들 수 있다.[8] 완성된 섬광 유리 조각이 반투명하게 보인다.[6]
