아퀼라 극장

아퀼라 극장은 피터 메이넥에 의해 1991년 런던에서 설립되었으며 1999년부터 뉴욕시에 근거지를 두고 있다.^[1]^[2]아킬라의 임무는 최고의 연극 작품들을 가장 많은 숫자로 끌어들이고 뉴욕과 국제 축제에서 연극의 정기적인 계절을 선보이는 것이다.교육 프로그램은 아킬라의 임무에서 중요한 요소다.셰익스피어 리더스는 할렘에서 학생들이 셰익스피어를 배우고 공연하는 대담하고 혁신적인 프로그램이다.아퀼라는 1년에 70여 개의 미국 도시와 도시를 순회하며 도시와 농촌 지역 주민을 위한 접근권을 제공한다.아킬라는 501(c)(3) 비영리 단체다.^[3]

뉴욕 시즌

아퀼라는 최근 브루클린 음악아카데미의 힐만 스튜디오에서 소포클레스의 고전 필록테스를 원작으로 한 새로운 연극 'A Woman Philoctetes'를 선보였다.이전 발표로는 브루클린 음악 아카데미의 피셔의 헤라클스, 조셉 헬러의 캐치-22, 루실 로텔 극장의 호머의 일리아드, 현대 미국 번역가의 작품을 탐구하는 뉴 번역서 리딩 시리즈 등이 있다.^[3]

교육 이니셔티브

아퀼라는 뉴욕대학교 고대연구센터에 입주해 있는 전문기업이며 뉴욕시 교육청의 예술교육서비스 공급업체다.아킬라는 순회공연 중 특별한 학교공연, 토크백, 마스터클래스, 워크숍, 현장학교 방문 등을 선보이며 중·고교생 1만5000~2만명에 이른다.2006년 아퀼라는 찰스 헤이든 재단의 지원을 받아 셰익스피어 리더스 프로그램을 개발했다.아퀼라의 젊은 청중 회사는 최근 링컨 센터 예술교육원과 함께 뉴욕 대도시 지역의 학교에서 특별한 교육 프로그램을 제작했다.

공동작업

아퀼라는 올림피아 두카키스, 빌 풀만, 미키스 테오도라키스, 피터 티보리스, 더그 바론, 랄프 패리스, 데이비드 오예로우를 포함한 영화, TV, 오페라, 클래식 음악 및 무용과 같은 많은 분야의 예술가들과 함께 작업한다.
