Trowbarrow Quarry는 영국 랭커셔주 실버데일 근처에 있는 사용되지 않는 석회암 채석장으로, 지질학적으로 특별한 과학적 관심이[1][2] 있는 장소이자 지역 자연 [3][4]보호구역입니다.그곳은 인기 있는 암벽 등반 [5]지역이다.

역사

이 채석장은 1857년 퍼네스 선 철도가 근처에 개통되면서 생산물을 이동시킬 수 있는 수단을 제공하면서 건설, 산업 및 농업에 사용할 석회석을 생산했다.타르마카담을 생산하기 위한 새로운 방법이 개발되었는데, 이 방법은 인근 캔포스의 가스공장에서 나오는 뜨거운 타르로 부서진 석회석과 혼합된다.이 채석장은 1959년에 문을 닫았고, 대부분의 활동 [6]기간 동안 20~30명을 고용했다.
