TCF12
TCF12전사 인자 12는 인간에게 TCF12 유전자에 의해 암호화된 단백질이다.[5][6]
이 유전자가 인코딩한 단백질은 컨센서스 결합부위(E-box) CANNTG를 인식하는 기초나선-루프-헬릭스(bHLH) E단백과의 일원이다. 이 인코딩된 단백질은 골격근, 흉선, B-, T-세포 등 많은 조직에서 발현되며, 다른 bHLH E-단백질과의 이단백질 형성을 통해 혈통 고유의 유전자 발현을 조절하는 데 참여할 수 있다. 이 유전자의 여러 가지 대체적으로 분할된 대본 변종이 설명되었지만, 이러한 변종들 중 일부의 전체적 특성은 결정되지 않았다.[6] TCF12는 관련된 단일 뉴클레오티드 다형성과의 연관성을 나타내는 GWAS 연구를 통해 추측적으로 인간의 남성성과 관련되었다.[7] 이 유전자의 돌연변이는 또한 관상두뇌증 사례와 관련이 있다.[8]
TCF12는 TCF21의 1차 이질화 파트너로서 종양 억제기 유전자 및 SRY/SOX9 활동의 대상이다.[9]
