2021년 12월 6일 NASA 우주비행사 그룹 23(별칭 '파리')이 발표되었고, 2022년에는 학급이 근무 보고를 했다.남자 7명과 여자 5명 등 12명의 우주인 후보가 선발됐다.

역사

NASA는 2020년 2월에 이 우주 비행사 그룹의 창설을 발표했고 2020년 3월 중에 우주 비행사 채용 신청을 받아들였다.이 수업의 경우, 공인된 기관의 STEM 분야(공학, 생물학, 물리, 컴퓨터 과학, 수학)에서 최소한 석사 학위가 될 수 있도록 교육 요건이 증가했고, 이에 앞서의 수업에서는 학사 학위가 전부였다.또한, 처음으로 2시간 동안 온라인 평가가 필요했다.[1]NASA는 50개 주와 컬럼비아 구, 4개 미국 영토에서 12,000건이 넘는 신청서를 접수했다.[2]

그룹 23의 우주 비행사 후보자들은 원래 2021년 여름 훈련을 위해 휴스턴있는 존슨 우주 센터에 도착할 계획이었고, 약 2년간의 훈련 프로그램이 완료되면, NASA나 상용 승무원 차량을 타고 지구 저궤도에 있는 국제우주정거장의 향후 임무에 이용할 수 있게 된다.s, Artemis 프로그램을 통한 , 그리고 Mars.[1]그러나 JSC의 COVID-19 규제로 인해 예비 지원자를 직접 인터뷰하는 번거로움으로 인해 새로운 수업 발표는 두 번 뒤로 밀렸다.

  • 기획사는 2020년 8월 최종 발표일을 여름에서 2021년 후반으로 앞당기며 시간표를 수정했다.[3]2020년 8월 개정판 기준으로 2021년 2월부터 9월 사이에 휴스턴에서 여러 차례 인터뷰가 진행되었는데, 10월 또는 11월에 2021학급이 발표되고 12월에 훈련을 위해 JSC에 도착하였다.[4]
  • 진흥원은 2021년 3월 다시 시간표를 수정해 2021년 여름, 2021년 말 새 학급 발표와 2022년 새 학급 보고로 현장면접이 예정돼 있다.[5][needs update]

MBRSC가 선정한 노라 마트로시, 모하마드 물라 등 두 명의 에미라티 후보가 국제 파트너 우주비행사로 훈련에 참가한다.이미 소유즈 MS-15를 타고 우주로 간 알 만수리 하자와 알 네야디 후보는 23기 그룹이 선정되기 전부터 NASA에서 이미 훈련을 받고 있었지만 노라와 모하마드만 23기 그룹에 속하는 것으로 간주되고 있다.[6][7]
