아이스, (셰틀랜드 방언: Eid, Old Norse: 아이히(Eið, Isthmus, cf Eday)는 스코틀랜드 서쉐틀랜드 본토 북쪽 해안에 있는 마을로, 레르윅에서 서쪽으로 약 21마일(34km) 떨어진 아이쓰 보의 남쪽 끝에 있다.[1][2]

아이스는 빅스터 마을의 A971(쉐틀랜드의 서쪽과 레르윅을 연결하는 것)과의 분기점 남쪽까지 이어지는 B9071호에, 동부 부르라피르스를 거쳐 북동쪽은 보 마을의 A970(레르윅과 북쪽을 연결하는 것)과의 분기점까지 놓여 있다. 아이스보 서쪽 해안선을 따라 아이스에서 북쪽으로는 비멘트리까지 이어지는 단일 선로 도로가 있다.[3]

매년 6월 초에는 영국 왕립 구명보트 협회를 위한 기금을 모으기 위해 Aith Lifeboat Gala가 열리며, 셰틀랜드 해안 경비대의 다른 활동들 중에서도 항아리 분대와 전시회가 있다.[4][5]

아이스 마을

현대 정착지는 노르웨이의 점령기 동안 원래 애이스팅이라는 지역을 차지하고 있다. 주변 교구는 여전히 애이스팅으로 알려져 있다.[6][7]

주목할 만한 거주자

존 니콜슨은 19세기 후반/20세기 초반의 작가 겸 정치 활동가였다.[citation needed] 그의 첫 번째 책 제목은 "Sprigs o' Aithstin Heather[12]"로 1898년에 Lerwick에서 출판되었다. 그는 Up-Hely-Aa에서 매년 불려지는 Galley Song을 위해 글을 썼다.[13][14]

2008년 2월 20일, Aith의 몇몇 집들이 지역 차고에서 화재로 인해 대피하여, 그곳에 보관되어 있는 옥시 아세틸렌 통이 폭발할 수 있다는 우려가 있었다. 차고는 파괴되었고 나중에 그 부지는 깨끗해졌다.[15]
