어퍼밀(Uppermill)은 영국 그레이터 맨체스터에 있는 올덤의 메트로폴리탄 자치구에 있는 새들워스의 시민 교구에 있는 마을이다.역사적으로 요크셔의 웨스트 라이딩에서는, 피크 지구 국립 공원이 바로 동쪽에 있는 사우스 페니네스의 계곡의 다메 강에 놓여 있으며, 올덤에서 동쪽으로 4.5마일(7.2km), 맨체스터에서 북동쪽으로 11마일(17.7km) 떨어져 있다.어퍼밀은 이웃 마을인 독크로스와 함께 지속적인 도시 지역을 형성하고 있다. 이 두 마을은 총 7,500명의 인구를 가지고 있다.[1]

역사

이 지역에는 로마인의 활동 흔적이 있지만, 여러 개의 제분소를 건설하는 등 산업혁명기에 양털과 면화가 그 지역으로 확대되면서 어퍼밀의 역사는 지배적이다.[2]

Uppermill과 Dobcross의 마을은 2001년 영국 인구조사에서 통계청에 의해 단일 개체로 취급되었다.이처럼 마을 자체로는 인구통계가 없다.여기에 제시된 통계는 약 반 마일 떨어져 있는 어퍼밀과 독크로스의 총인구에 대한 것이다.

2001년 인구조사에서 이 지역은 7,475명의 인구를 가지고 있었다.인구밀도는 평방마일(3986/km2)당 1만324명으로 여성 대 남성 비율이 100대 92.6이었다.[4]16세 이상 고령자 중 22.5%가 미혼(무혼), 49.6%가 결혼, 7.8%가 이혼했다.[5]이 지역 3225가구는 1인 27.7%, 동거 43.2%, 동거 8.1%, 자녀를 둔 한부모 6.9% 등이다.[6]16~74세의 경우 21.1%가 학력이 없는 것으로 나타나 올덤(37.7%)과 영국(28.9%)[7][8]의 평균을 크게 밑돌았다.

2001년 영국 인구조사에서 이 지역 주민의 79.6%는 기독교인, 0.3%, 이슬람인, 0.3%, 힌두교인, 0.2%, 유대인이라고 응답했다.인구조사는 종교가 없는 것으로 13.3%, 대안 종교가 있는 것으로 0.2%, 종교가 없는 것으로 6.0%를 기록했다.[9]
