NGC 4305는 처녀자리[2] 약 1억 광년 떨어진 곳에 위치한 왜소 나선 은하다[3].이 은하는 1829년 5월 2일 천문학자 존 허셜에 의해 발견되었다.[4]처녀자리 은하단의 일원으로 여겨지지만,[2][5] 높은 방사상 속도와 푸른 빛은 그것이 사실 배경 은하임을 암시한다.[6]이 은하계에는 NGC 4306이라는 주요 동반자가 가까이 있다.[6]
NGC 4305는 중심 돌출부 바깥에서 잘 종료되는 잘 정의되고 매끄러운 나선형 암을 나타낸다.[7]이 나선 구조는 NGC 4306과의 조석 상호작용에 의해 유도된 것으로 보인다.[8][9]그러한 조석 상호작용은 또한 중성 수소 가스(HI)의 결핍을 설명할 것이다.[6]
