NGC 4236(Caldwell 3)은 드래코 별자리에 위치한 막대 나선 은하다.

은하는 지구로부터 약 11.7 Mly(3.6 Mpc) 거리에 위치한 은하군인 M81 그룹의 일원이다.[3]이 그룹에는 나선 은하 메시에 81과 별버스트 은하 메시에 82도 포함되어 있다.[3]NGC 4236은 지구로부터 14.5 Mly (4.45 Mpc)의 거리에서 M81 그룹의 중심부에서 떨어져 있다.[4]
