1991년 개관한 팬뮤지엄은 세계 최초로 손 선풍기 보존과 전시 등을 전담하는 박물관이다.[1] 1721년 영국 런던 남동부의 그리니치 세계문화유산 내에 지어진 2등급 주택들 내에 위치하고 있다.[2] 박물관과 함께 벽화로 장식된 오랑캐리, 부채꼴로 장식된 일본식 정원, 연못, 개울 등이 있다.[3]

개요

이 박물관은 2018년 현재 5,000개가 넘는 팬들과 다른 팬 관련 문화 자료를 소장하고 있다.[4][5][6] 컬렉션에서 가장 오래된 팬은 11세기부터이며 18세기, 19세기 유럽팬들의 컬렉션은 광범위하다.[7] 보존에 대한 우려로 전체 컬렉션이 영구적으로 전시되는 것은 아니지만, 팬의 역사, 제조과정, 다양한 형태의 팬에 대해 알려주는 상설 교육용 디스플레이가 있다.[7] 전시품으로는 귀 트럼펫이 내장된 부채와 디자인에 수리 키트가 내장된 부채가 있다.[1] 팬뮤지엄에서도 팬메이킹 강좌가 열린다.[8] 팬뮤지엄에는 참고도서관도 있다.[6]

팬뮤지엄은 공개적으로 후원받지 않는다.[9] 내셔널 트러스트 회원들은 입장료를 할인받는다.[10]
