살아있는 야생 당나귀 3종의 범위

Asinus는 보통 야생 당나귀로 알려진 여러 아종을 아우르는 에쿠스(발가락이 하나뿐인 방목동물)의 아속이며, 긴 귀, 마른 등, 진정한 시들함, 거친 갈기와 꼬리, 상당한 강인함과 인내력을 특징으로 한다.

일반적인 당나귀는 가축화된 것과 야생적인 것 모두를 가진 아속 중에서 가장 잘 알려진 대표종이다.야생 당나귀 종 중에는 아시아와 아프리카에 전혀 길들여지지 않은 종들이 살고 있다.
