알로라는 오스트레일리아 퀸즐랜드 주 서던다운스 지역에 있는 시골 마을이자 지역이다.[2][3] 2016년 인구조사에서 알로라는 1,223명의 인구를 가지고 있었다.[1]

지리

알로라는 주 수도 브리즈번에서 남서쪽으로 158km(98mi) 떨어진 오스트레일리아 퀸즈랜드의 달링 다운스에 있다. 이 마을은 워릭과 투움바 사이의 뉴잉글랜드 고속도로에 위치해 있다.

역사

1875년경 알로라 근교의 글렌갈란 하우스

자발(Giabal, Paiamba, Gomaingguru)은 오스트레일리아의 원주민 언어다. 자발어 지역은 투움바 지역협의회의 지방정부 경계 내에 있는 경관을 포함하고 있으며, 특히 투움바 남쪽은 알로라, 서쪽은 밀메란까지를 포함한다.[4]

이 작은 농업 공동체를 둘러싼 지역은 1840년대에 유럽인들이 처음으로 탐험했다.

1854년 알로라에서 최초의 장로교 예배가 열렸다.[5]

그 도시는 1859년에 조사되었다. 그 이름은 물웅덩이나 늪지대를 뜻하는 원주민 단어 "gnarallah"에서 유래한 것으로 여겨진다.[2]

유럽인들의 정착에 이어 알로라 인근에는 글렌갈란과 탈가이라는 두 유명한 목회자 홈스테드가 자리 잡고 있다. 두 재산 모두 양떼를 경영했다.

원래 "탈가이"는 1840년에 E. E. E. Dalrymple에 의해 운영되었다. 알로라를 관통하는 개울은 그의 명예로 명명되었다. 클라크 가문을 위해 1868년에 지어진 탈가이 홈스테드는 30만 에이커(1,200km2)에 이른다. 홈스테드는 사암으로 지어졌고 60개의 정사각형을 덮고 있다. 지금은 침대와 아침식사가 되었다.

알로라 우체국은 1863년 3월 31일에 문을 열었다.[6]

감리교 교회, 1932년

1866년 알로라에 웨슬리안 감리교회가 설립되었다.[7][8] 개선은 1875년에 이루어졌다.[9] 1896년에 새로운 교회가 세워졌다.[7]

알로라 주립 학교는 1867년 5월 1일에 개교했다.[10][11] 2008년 12월 31일, 알로라 P-10 주립학교로 개칭되었다.[10]

1869년부터 알로라는 자체적인 지방 정부(초기 알로라의 자치구, 1903년 알로라 타운에서)를 두었고, 그 후 클리프톤 샤이어와 결합되었다. 1914년, 그것은 클리프톤 샤이어로부터 분리되어 알로라의 샤이어로서 독자적인 샤이어가 되었다. 알로라의 샤이어는 처음에 샤이어의 사무실에서 워릭과 포르데 스트리트 알로라의 모퉁이에, 그리고 그 다음 알로라의 허버트 가 78번지에서 관리되었다. 1994년 알로라의 샤이어는 워릭의 샤이어로 합병되었다.

알로라 보어 전쟁 기념관은 헨리 차우벨 대령이 1904년 10월 19일 공개했다.[20]

윌슨빌 임시 학교는 1906년에 개교했다. 1909년 1월 1일 윌슨빌 주립학교가 되었다. 1922년 말이나 1923년 초에 글렌갈란 주립학교와 통합되어 마운트 마셜 주립학교를 만들었다.[21]

성 패트릭의 가톨릭 학교는 1916년 1월 24일 성 요셉 수녀회에 의해 설립되었다. 공식 개회식은 브리즈번의 로마 가톨릭 대주교 제임스 듀히그가 맡았다.[21][22][23][24]
