젠캡은 독일 기업으로 개인 세이버들이 독일, 스페인, 네덜란드의 중소기업에 직접 돈을 빌려줄 수 있는 피어투피어 대출 플랫폼을 운영했다.[1] 독일[2] 베를린에 본사를 둔 이 회사는 크라우드 펀딩 모델을 활용해 대출을 원하는 사채업자와 중소기업 간 직접 연결고리를 만드는 것을 목표로 삼았다.[1][3][4][5] 2014년 12월 현재 젠캡은 중소기업에 대한 500만 유로 대출을 촉진했다.[6]

2015년 10월에는 펀딩 서클과 합병해 영국과 미국에서 활발한 활동을 펼치고 있다.[7][8]

기원

베를린에 본사를 둔 이 회사는 2014년[9][10] 3월 크리스티안 그로베와 마티아스 크네히트가 로켓인터넷의 지원을 받아 설립한 회사다.[1][9][11]

대출

비즈니스 모델은 미국의 P2P 대출 플랫폼인 Lending Club과 영국에 본사를 둔 회사인 Pundancing Circle을 닮았다.[12][failed verification] 젠캡은 1만~25만 유로의 중소기업 대출을 촉진했다.[1] 젠캡은 차입자가 신용할 수 있는지 여부를 판단하고 미지급 이율과 수수료를 결정하는 신용등급을 부여했다. Zencap 자체는 대출자들에게 1%에서 4.5%의 시작 수수료를 부과했다. 대출 기간은 6개월에서 60개월로, 대출금은 언제든지 조기상환수수료 없이 상환할 수 있다.[13] 나라마다 사정이 달랐다.

더 타게스피겔은 창업자 크리스티안 그로베의 말을 인용해 "우리는 위험 평가에 매우 엄격하다"[1]고 전했다. 일단 승인되면 기업들은 그들의 대출 요청을 Zencap 시장에 게시했고, 그곳에서 사채업자들은 그들이 돈을 빌려주고 싶은 사업을 선택할 수 있었다.[14]

펀딩 서클 인수에 젠캡

젠캡은 2015년 10월 유럽의 또 다른 대출 플랫폼인 영국에 본사를 둔 펀딩서클에 인수됐다.[15] 젠캡은 독일, 스페인, 네덜란드에서 활동했다.[15] 이 합병으로 자금 조달 서클은 유럽의 기업 대출 리더들의 주요 동료가 되었다.
