어퍼 백악기 시대의 Vermejo 형성은 지질 형성. 그것은 래턴 분지 북동부 뉴 멕시코 주, 그리고 남부 콜로라도에서 outcrops.[1]
설명
대형이 부분적으로, 석탄이나 얇은 석탄 침대가 있을 수 있탄소질은 밝은 회색, 부드러움, 부스러지기 쉬운 사암과 혈암으로 구성되어 있다. 그 Vermejo 형성에 대해 375피트 두께는 Vermejo 공원 콜팩스 카운티, 뉴 멕시코에 있는 모식 산지에서(116m) 있다.[2]

는 형성의 기본 10–50피트(3.0–15.2 m)위에 볼 수 있던 철도 캐년 사암 멤버가 사암층 최대 50피트(15m)두께이다.[4]
경제지질학
그 Vermejo 형성은 역사적으로 중요한 coal-bearing 형성. 광업은 1870년 Vermejo의 기지 근처에서 부유한 래턴 탄층에서 시작되었다.[5] 침대는 코킹의 질을 역청 석탄 담고 있었다. 이 광범위하게 1924[4], 노벨상 빼고는 침대는 1965년에 의해 지쳐 버렸다 선전되고 있었다.[5]
그 역시coalbed 메탄에 악용되고 있다.[6][7]
조사의 역사
그 Vermejo 형성은 원래 W.T. 이 대통령이 1913년 미국 Science지에에 지명되었다. 1917년에, 리는 더 이상 완전히 형성을 묘사했다.[2]
