Southcote Lock은 영국 버크셔의 Reading 마을 근처 Southcote에 있는 Kennet 강에 있는 자물쇠다. 그것은 5피트 3인치(1.60m)의 상승/하강이다.[1]

역사

Southcote Lock은 1718년에서 1723년 사이에 Newbury의 엔지니어 John Hore의 감독하에 건설되었다.

18세기 동안, 운하의 남쪽, 운하 항행과 케넷의 자연 항로 사이의 섬에 철조망이 건설되었다.[2] 이 방앗간은 햄프셔의 소울리 포저로부터 바아철을 공급받았으며, 두 사이트 모두 찰스 포콕 스르, 토마스 골든, 찰스 포콕 주니어가 운영했다.[3][4]

1896년, Southcote Water Works (Reading Corporation 소유)는 Fobney의 하류에 새로 업그레이드된 증기 구동 스테이션으로 대체되었다. Southcote의 물 바퀴와 펌프는 더 이상 사용되지 않았다.[9] 그러나 3년 후 남코트 작업은 전면 개편되고 새로운 필터와 파이프가 설치되었다.[9]
