피터 밴 뷰런(Peter van Buren, 1960년 출생)은 전 미국 외무부 직원으로, 군사 문제에 관한 소설 두 권과 논픽션 두 권의 저자다.
초년기
피터 밴 뷰런은 뉴욕에서 태어났다.
경력
밴 뷰런은 2개 지방재건팀(PRT) 팀장으로 이라크에서 1년간 근무하는 등 24년간 미국 국무부에서 근무했다.[1]
그의 책 "We Mind Well: What I Helped the Battle for the Mearts and Minds of Iraq people"이 출간된 후, 밴 뷰런은 일련의 고조되고 역효과를 겪었다고 주장했다.[2][3]그의 전 고용주였던 미 국무부는 밴 뷰런이 부서 규정에 따라 자신의 책을 출판할 수 있도록 적절하게 허가하지 않았으며, 그 책에는 기밀 자료의 무단 공개가 포함되어 있다고 주장했다.[4]워싱턴포스트는 "반 뷰런이 거의 매일 수정헌법 1조를 시험하고 있다"[5]고 지적했다.정부 책임 프로젝트와 ACLU는 밴 뷰런을 옹호하는 데 도움을 주었고 국무부는 결국 밴 뷰런이 그의 표준 연금과 복리후생금으로 은퇴할 수 있도록 허용했다.[6][5][7][8]
