μ 하이드레이(Hydrae)는 히드라의 적도 별자리에 있는 주황색 [8]테두리 별이다.육안으로는 3.83의 외관상 시야로 볼 수 있다.[2]남남서쪽으로부터 겨우 1.8° 떨어진 곳에 위치한 행성상 성운 NGC 3242가 있다.[9]무하이드레이는 연간 시차 교대조가 13.93마스로,[1] 거리 추정치가 234광년이다.
이것은 K4 III의 별 분류를 가진 진화된 K형 거성으로,[3] 핵심 수소를 다 써버렸고 태양 반지름의 약 45배까지 확대되었다.[5]그것은 크기가 0.03 정도 되는 밝기를 가진 것으로 의심되는 변광성이다.[4]비교적 서늘한 외부 대기는 유효 온도가 3999 K이다.[5]
