미드웨스트 대학교는 미주리 주 갠츠빌에 있는 사립 복음주의 기독교 대학이다.[2] 제임스 송이 1986년 중서부대학 신학대학원으로 설립한 이 학교는 학생들에게 성경적 기반 고등교육을 제공하고자 한다.[3][4] 성인에 의해 설명된다. 2000년 루이스 포스트 디스패치는 60여 개국의 학생들이 모여 있는 '한국 신학교'로서 중서부는 현지 학생 인구 확대를 모색해 왔다.[5][6]

중서부대학교는 이제 대면, 온라인, 원격 교육을 통해 학사, 석사, 박사 학위를 제공한다.[1][7] 이 대학은 17에이커(6.9ha) 규모의 주거 캠퍼스 외에도 미주리 주 제퍼슨시티에 비즈니스 인큐베이팅센터,[8] 워싱턴 인근 교무처,[1] 한국 서울 한국기독교빌딩 국제부지를 운영하고 있다.[5][9]

학문

중서부대학교는 국제항공대학, 국제경영대학/리더십대학, 음악대학, 교육대학, 신학대학원의 5개 대학으로 구성되어 있다.[10] 이 대학의 대학들은 함께 전통 학위 이수 프로그램과 성인 학위 이수 프로그램을 포함하여 4개의 학부 전공을 제공한다. 그들은 또한 10개의 대학원 학위 프로그램과 2개의 자격증 프로그램을 제공한다.[11]

강좌는 주로 한국어와 영어로 제공된다. 대학 도서관은 한국어와 영어로 된 많은 도서관 자료가 있는 다국어 모음집을 가지고 있다.[5][12]

학교에 따르면 2017~2018년 학부 졸업률은 42%, 학부 존치율은 94%이다. 또 학교 측에 따르면 학부 및 대학원 과정을 수료한 학생들의 취업알선율은 97.6%[13]로 나타났다.

인증

2000년 9월, 이 대학의 학부 과정은 기독교 대학 및 학교 초국가연합(TRACS)에 의해 인가되었다.[3][14] 2004년 11월부터, 그것의 대학원 과정도 TRACS에 의해 인가되었다.[3][14] 중서부는 2010년 10월 TRACS에서 철수했다.[3][14] 미국 교육부에 따르면 이 학교는 2010년부터 2013년까지 인가받지 않았다.[15]

중앙일보는 2007년 8월 중서부대가 2003년 1월부터 39개의 '가짜 학위'를 발급했다고 밝히며 여러 '외교 제분소, 의심스러운 학사학위 발급 미인가 기관' 중 하나라고 기술했다.[16]

2011년 11월, 중서부는 전국적으로 인정된 성서 고등교육 인증 기관 협회(ABHE)로부터 지원자 지위를 부여받았다.[3] 2013년 2월에 사전 인가를 받았으며, 2015년 2월부터 중서부는 ABHE의 인가를 받는다.[14][17] 이 대학의 신학대학원대학교는 미국 및 캐나다 신학대학원 협회의 부회원이지만, 인증 대상이나 인증 대상자의 인가를 받지 않는다.[18][19]

중서부 국제 연구소

미주리주 제퍼슨시에 있는 이 학교의 중서부 국제 연구소는 '비즈니스 인큐베이팅 센터'로 직업 훈련, 기술 개발, 영어 강좌 등을 제공한다. 학생들은 6개월에서 2년 동안 아시아 다른 곳뿐만 아니라 한국에서 온다.[8]
