두더지의 단일 현존 종star-nosed 몰(별코 두더지)북 아메리카의 북쪽에서 풍토 성인이 포함되어 있Condylura은 유인원 속이다.[1]지파 Condylurini의 그것은 또한 살아 있는 유일한 회원이다.
반면 오늘 신세계로 풍토병, 화석의 증거 그 속 한번 더, 두 이름의 종(Ckowalskii와 Cizabellae)은 선신세 폴란드의 미드 마이오세 카자흐스탄의 이름이 밝혀지지 않은 생물의 종에서 가진 광범위하게 퍼져 있음을 시사한다.[2]
Condylura은 subfamily Scalopinae에 대부분의 당국에 의해 다른 신세계 몰과 함께; 하지만, 더 최근의 연구들은 이것 두더지에 있어 더 많은 기본적인 위치를 차지한 clade은 화석 속 Geotrypus, 모든 살아 있는 Talpinae, 그리고 모든 Scalopini을 구성하는 것인 여동생을 제시하는 분류된다.그것에 대한 멸종된 로사 Eotalpa 수 있는 여동생 유인원 속이다.[3]
