1868년과 1869년 미국 하원의원 선거는 1868년 미국 대통령 선거와 동시에 이루어졌으며, 율리시스 S. 그랜트가 승리했다.
민주당은 20석을 얻었지만 남북전쟁 이후 재건 시대에도 그랜트의 공화당은 압도적인 다수를 유지하며 승리와의 연계를 통해 확고한 정당성을 고수했다.더 많은 남부 주들이 재건을 탈퇴하면서 남부에서 더 많은 민주당 의석이 나타났다.그러나 남부에서 민주당의 득세는 제한적이었고, 공화당의 재건 세력 브로커들이 큰 영향력을 행사했기 때문이다.버지니아주의 보수당도 버지니아주의 권력을 늘리기를 원하는 남부 부유층 지도자들의 지지를 얻었기 때문에 버지니아주에서 여러 의석을 얻었다.
선거 개요
미시시피, 텍사스, 버지니아는 1860년 이래 처음으로 주 대표단을 공석 상태로 남겨두고 이 의회 기간 동안 재입성되었다.그루지야는 이전 의회에서 부분적으로 재입학 허가를 받았으나, 처음에는 41대 의회에 입성하지 못했다.1870년 그루지야의 최종 재허가로, 모든 남부 연합 주들은 다시 한번 의회에 대표되었다.
