와이파파파 발전소는 뉴질랜드 북섬 와이카토 강에 있는 수력발전소다.와이카토 강에 있는 여섯 번째 수력발전소다.와이카토 강에서 가장 작은 발전소다.[3]
와이파파는 전력생산·소매업체인 상장기업 머큐리에너지가 운영한다.
역사
이 부지는 1943년에 처음 검토되었지만, 1953년에야 수력 개발을 진행하기로 결정되었다.1955년에 착공하여 1961년 4월에 첫 전기가 생산되었다.2001년에, 터빈은 운영 효율을 향상시키기 위해 개조되었다.[4]
