Upperthong은 영국 웨스트요크셔주 허더스필드에서 남쪽으로 약 11km 떨어진 Holme Valley의 Holmfirth 마을 근처에 있는 해발 [2]약 807피트(246m)의 마을이다.

역사

Upperthong이라는 이름은 고대 영어의 'Uferra'(위) + 'thwang'([땅의 좁은 띠)에서 유래한 것일 수 있다. Upperthong보다 낮은 지대에 위치한 Nutherthong도 있기 때문에,[3] 그 이름은 낮은 지대와 높은 지대를 나타낼 수 있다.

어퍼통은 2019년 총선 이후 보수당 제이슨 매카트니 의원이 대표로 있는 콜밸리 선거구의 일부다.그 선거구는 이전에 노동당의 [9][10][11]델마 워커에 의해 대표되었다.
