The Eastern Region (Arabic: ٱلْمِنْطَقَة ٱلشَّرْقِيَّة‎, romanized: Al-Minṭaqah ash-Sharqiyyah, since March 2017 officially renamed by Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan to Al Ain Region (Arabic: مِنْطَقَة ٱلْعَيْن‎, romanized: Minṭaqat al-ʿAyn)[1][3][2]은 아부다비 에미리트(Ubu Davi)의 3개 시영 지역 중 하나이다. 아랍에미리트의 남동부를 이루고 있다.[4] 주요 정착지는 오만과의 국경에 위치한 알 아인 시로, 에미리트와 나라의 수도인 아부다비에서 약 160km(99mi) 떨어진 곳에 위치해 있다.[5] 서부지역에 비해 에미리트에서는 다소 외진 지역이기도 하지만 [6]면적별로는 작으며, 가스나 석유가 매장되어 있는 것으로는 알려져 있지 않지만 농업적으로 중요한 지역이다.[7][8]

알-아인 시는 인접한 오만 도시 알-부라이미가 포함된 역사적 지역의 일부로서,[9] 요새, 오아시스, 아플라주(지하 수로), 그리고 힐리와 루마일라와 같은 고고학적 유적지로 유명하다. 도시 외곽에는 제벨 하페와[10][11][12] 알아앙카 요새가 있다.[13] 셰이크 자이드 빈 술탄 알 나흐얀은 아부다비의 통치자와 아랍에미리트 대통령이 되기 전 이 지역의 통치자 대표였다.[9][14]

인구통계 및 정산

'알파카' 근처의 알-아인과 두바이 사이의 E66 고속도로에 있는 표지판에는 에미리트 외곽의 알-다이드, 알-후자이라 외에 알-하이어, 알-아인, 아스-슈바이브 등의 이름이 적혀 있다.

2009년 현재 이 지역의 인구는 89만 명으로 추산된다.[15]
