에디 오웬스 마틴

에디 오웬스 마틴은 1908년 7월 4일 조지아주 마리온 카운티의 글렌 알타 마을에서 9명의 소작인 가정에서 태어났다.[5] 그는 아버지로부터 학대를 당해 14살에 뉴욕으로 집을 떠나 성노동자가 되었다.[6] 그가 법망을 피해 다녔던 초기 성년 시절은 1942년에 1년 징역으로 이어졌다. 그는 1943년 3월 17일 연방 마약류 교도소에서 출소한 후 점쟁이가 되었다.[7] 1986년 4월 16일 자살했다.[8]

오리진스

마틴은 파사쿼이즘이라는 종교를 창시하려는 정신에서 영감을 받았다. 그것의 멤버들은 파사쿼이안이라고 불린다. 이 영신은 마르틴을 성 엄(Saint UM).[9] 파사콰이즘은 자연 세계와의 연결과 모발 사용을 강조한다. "파사취안"은 대략 "과거가 함께 오고 있다"[10]는 의미의 스페인어와 중국어로 만들어진 이름이다. 그는 1950년 어머니로부터 집과 4에이커의 땅을 물려받았다. 마틴은 형 율리우스와 분쟁 끝에 1957년 점술업을 현장으로 옮겼다.[11] 그는 점술로 얻은 수익금을 사용하여 여러 해에 걸쳐 재산을 개조했다.[12]

건설

마틴은 자신의 첫 번째 벽을 짓기 위해 지역 천연자재를 수집하고 D를 고용했다. W. Milner가 그를 돕는다.[13] 그의 원래 장식된 울타리는 나무로 만들어졌기 때문에 썩어 버렸다.[14] 에드윈 스티븐스는 마틴에게 기술적인 건설 기술과 로맨틱한 관계를 제공했다.[15] 10년간의 공사 끝에 마틴은 자신의 개인적인 지인들에게서 영감을 받은 이미지로 자신의 건축물을 그리기 시작했다.[16]

소유권 전환

마리온 카운티 역사 협회는 1986년 파사취안의 소유권을 인수했다. 현장 돌봄과 마틴의 다양한 다른 작품들을 용이하게 하기 위해 특별 위원회가 구성되었다. 위원회는 이후 화합물 자체에 초점을 맞추기 위해 각종 자료를 숙청했다. 파사취안보존회는 위원회에서 탄생해 2014년까지 파사취안을 운영했다.[17] 파사취안보존회는 2014년 파사취안을 콜러재단에 재원을 마련하기 위해 파사취안을 양도했다.[18][19][20] 콜러재단은 파사취안이 2016년 재개관한 뒤 콜럼버스 주립대에 소유권을 양도했다.[21]

복원

2004년에 파사취안 보존 협회는 콜러 재단에 파사취안을 유지하는데 도움을 요청했다. 이 프로젝트는 2014년에 받아들여졌다.[22] 콜러 재단은 파사취안의 예술을 복원하기 위해 콜럼버스 주립대학과 협력했다. 2년간의 작업 끝에 2016년 10월 22일 다시 일반에 공개되었다.[23][24]

홍보

지미 카터 대통령은 1980년대 초 이곳을 방문했다.[25] 2015년에는 파사취안 보존회가 파사취안 관련 업적으로 도지사상을 수상하기도 했다.[26][27] 2016년 CNN은 파사쿠안을 관광지로 추천했다.[28] 2019년 애틀랜타에서는 파사쿠안을 민속예술 여행지로 추천했다.[29]

대중문화에서

2013년에 제이슨 맥코이는 그의 쇼인 제이슨 맥코이츠 아메리카를 위해 파사쿠안을 방문했다.[30] 2017년 제임스 오번과 스콧 윌커슨은 '에디의 돌 노래: 마틴의 생애를 기념한 '파사쿼이안 1호'의 오디세이.[31][32]
