누로는 캘리포니아주 마운틴뷰에 본사를 둔 미국의 로봇기업으로 주자준과 데이브 퍼거슨이 설립했다.[1] 누로는 자율배달차량을 개발하는데, 차량들이 사람 대신 물품을 실어 나르도록 설계돼 있어 도로교통안전청으로부터 자율감면을 받은 첫 번째 업체였다.[2] 2세대 자율주행차는 R2라고 불리며, 핸들이나 사이드미러, 페달 등이 없는 상태로 설계됐다.[3]

역사

이 회사는 구글의 자율주행차 프로젝트인 웨이모(Waymo)의 엔지니어들에 의해 설립되었다. 주 감독은 소프트웨어 주임 엔지니어로, 퍼거슨 감독은 2011년 기계학습 주임 엔지니어로 합류했다.[4][5] 주 감독과 퍼거슨은 2016년 웨이모를 떠나 그해 9월 누로를 창단했다.[6]

제품
