이전에 NJCP, 지금의 CP-NJ로 약칭되었던 뉴저지 보수당은 미국 뉴저지에 있는 보수 정당이다.

이념

NJCP는 낮은 세금, 균형 잡힌 예산과 일자리 증가, 사유재산 소유권, 개인에 대한 복지 제한, 정부 지원 의료 종료, 대외원조 제한 등을 옹호하고 있다. 그것은 주의 권리, 강력한 군사법, 반 이민법, 국회의원 임기 제한을 선호한다. 그것은 선거일의 국경일을 지지한다.

멤버십

뉴저지 선거부(뉴저지 주 일부)에 따르면 2008년 10월 20일 주 전역에 등록된 보수당 당원은 154명이었다.[2][3] 당원은 2015~2016년 5배 성장했고 2016년 3월 현재 814명이 등록했으며,[5] 2016년 11월까지 3516명이 가입했다.[4][6] 2018년 회원 수가 다시 증가했고, 2월에는 등록된 유권자가 7,371명,[5] 2018년 7월 현재 8,447명이었다.[7][8][9]

2019년 2월 현재 등록된 회원은 1만610명이다.[10]

역사

1963년 뉴저지 의회 선거에서는 다수의 후보가 "보수주의자"로 출마했다.[11]

뉴저지 보수당은 1989년과 1993년 주지사 선거에서 뉴저지[12] 주지사 후보로 출마했던 톰 블롬퀴스트가 1992년 만들었다.[13][14]

NJCP는 1995년 H. Ross Perot의 시민 행동 단체인 United We Stand America의 승인을 받았다.[15][16] 1995년 뉴저지 총회에 약 60명의 후보를 냈는데, 그 중 아무도 당선되지 않았다.[17][18] 뉴저지 역사상 한 번의 선거에서 제3당 후보가 가장 많은 기록을 깼다. 이는 NJCP가 11만7,219표를 획득하는 데 도움이 되었다. 그러나, 국가로부터 공식적인 제3자 지위를 얻기 위해서, 당은 총 투표의 적어도 10%를 가져와야 했는데, 그 숫자는 충족되지 않았다.[19] 그 당은 페롯의 대통령 출마를 지지하기 위해 당명을 바꾸는 것을 고려했다.[20]

그 정당은 1998년 중간선거에서 뉴저지 주의 모든 지역에서 후보를 냈다.[23]

1999년, 뉴저지 보수당과 선출직 후보였던 세 명의 당원은 공식 투표에서 민주당과 공화당을 위한 별도의 정당 칼럼을 작성하는 것부터 시작하여, 카운티 사무원들에게 인증된 민원을 제기했다.[24][25] 또 NJCP와 비교한 공화·민주당의 투표권 특혜 입장과 관련해 뉴저지 연방대법원에 상고심을 제기했다. 역사적으로 공화당과 민주당 후보들은 투표에서 1위를 차지했고, NJCP는 낮은 투표자 턴아웃으로 인해 이들 정당이 총투표까지 진행하기 위해 최소 10%의 투표율(그 사이클에 등록한 모든 유권자 중)도 받지 못했다고 주장했다.[26] 그러나 법원은 신청에 대한 기각 결정을 내렸다.[27]

2000년 뉴저지 보수당은 뉴저지 유권자들의 제3자 입당을 허용한 소송에 휘말렸다. 2001년까지 뉴저지는 민주당, 공화당, 무소속 이외의 어떤 것으로도 투표 등록을 허용하지 않았다. 이는 2001년 NJCP 등 정당연대가 제기한 소송 이후 위헌 결정이 내려졌다.

2009년 스테판 스피노사 주 의장은 공화당 소속으로 당적을 바꿔 스티브 론간 주지사에 투표할 수 있도록 해 달라고 등록 의원들에게 요청했다. (스피노사는 1997년부터 1999년[28] 사이에 NJCP 후보로 두 번, 주 후보로 한 번 출마했다.) 그렇게 함으로써 그는 론건의 기회를 높이기 위해 사실상 해체는 아니지만 제3자 운동의 중단을 요구했다.[29][30]

2010년 2월 19일 뉴저지 보수당은 미국 보수당과 소속 계약을 체결하였고, 2월 20일까지 뉴저지 계열사는 소속 협약에 따라 소속 정당을 전국 정당에 넘겨 관리하게 되었다. 스티븐 매네스 박사(1998년[31] 미들섹스 카운티 프리홀더 보수당 후보로 출마했던)는 12월 30일 뉴저지 당 지도부를 맡았다.[32][33]

2019년 1월 마틴 마크스 전 스카치플레인스 시장이 2019년 뉴저지 선거의 '보수' 기치를 내걸고 뉴저지 21대 입법지구 무소속 출마를 선언했다.[34][35]
