NGC 3324는 카리나 성운(NGC 3372)[3][4] 북서쪽에 위치한 남쪽 별자리 카리나의 열린 성단으로 지구로부터 9,100 ly(2,800 pc) 떨어져 있다.[2]그것은 금 31로도 알려진 방출 성운 IC 2599와 밀접한 관련이 있다.[5]두 사람은 종종 하나의 물건으로 혼동되기도 하고, 칠레 시인과의 닮은 점 때문에 함께 '가브리엘라 미스트랄 성운'이라는 별명을 붙여왔다.[6][7][8]NGC 3324는 1826년 제임스 던롭에 의해 처음 목록화되었다.[3]

NGC 3324는 개방 클러스터 NGC 3293과 관련된다.두 사람 모두 나이가 약 1,200만 살 정도로 꽤 젊다.그들은 어느 정도 대규모의 별들이 그들의 중심부 근처에 집중되어 있는 것을 보여 준다.둘 다 역동적으로 느긋하지 않다.[2]
