List of local nature reserves in Bedfordshire베드퍼드셔 주(Bedfordshire)는 잉글랜드 동부에 있는 군이다.[1]남동쪽으로는 허트포드셔, 북동쪽으로는 캠브리지셔, 북쪽으로는 노샘프턴셔, 서쪽으로는 버킹햄셔로 경계를 이루고 있다.[2]면적은 1,235 평방 킬로미터(477 평방 미)이며, 2016년 추정 인구는 64만 명으로, 이전 10년 동안 11% 증가했다.[3]지리적으로는 주로 시골이지만 여전히 잉글랜드의 14번째로 인구가 조밀한 카운티로, 인구의 절반 이상이 가장 큰 두 개의 빌트업 지역인 루턴과 베드포드에 살고 있다.[4]카운티는 베드포드, 센트럴 베드퍼드셔, 루턴 등 3개 단일 관할 당국이 관할한다.[5]카운티 타운은 베드포드(Bedford)이며, 그 이름은 알프레드 대왕과 구스럼(Guthrum) 사이에 약 879년 조약에 처음 기록되어 있는데, 이 조약은 베드포드를 통과하는 선으로 영어와 덴마크의 영토를 나누었다.[6]
루턴과 베드포드셔 남부의 대부분은 뛰어난 자연미의 칠스턴 지역에 있다.[7]베드퍼드셔 북부와 중부는 그레이트 오우스 강과 그 지류의 넓은 강 계곡과 베드포드셔 그린랜드 리지(Bedfordshire Greensand Ridge)가 있는 점토지를 일직선으로 하고 있다.쥐라기와 백악기 클라이는 분필암석의 빙하 퇴적물이 겹쳐져 있다.[8]
지역 자연 보호구역(LNRs)은 1949년 국립공원 및 농촌 접근법에 따라 지방 당국이 지정한다.지방 당국은 사이트를 소유 또는 임대하거나 소유자와 법적 합의를 함으로써 해당 부지에 대한 법적 통제권을 가져야 한다.LNR은 생물학적으로나 지질학적으로 국지적으로 특별한 관심을 갖는 사이트로, 지방 당국은 이들을 돌볼 의무가 있다.그들은 LNR을 관리하고 보호하기 위해 지역 사규를 적용할 수 있다.[9][10]
2016년 3월 현재 베드포드샤이어에는 20개의 지역 자연 보호구역이 있다:[11] 베드포드에는 8개, 센트럴 베드포드샤이어에는 11개, 루턴에는 1개.가장 큰 곳은 59.3헥타르(147에이커)의 하롤드-오델 컨트리 파크로, 강 초원과 두 개의 호수가 있는 그레이트 오우세 강둑의 예전 채석장이다.[12]가장 작은 곳은 힐 라이즈로 0.9헥타르(2.2에이커)로 베드포드 타운 중심부와 가깝고 삼면이 주택으로 둘러싸여 있지만 다양한 서식지를 갖고 있다.[13][14]모든 사이트에 대한 일반인의 접근이 있다.
