던스코어('dnsnskrr' / 'DUN-skur')는 B729에 있는 덤프리스 북서쪽 9마일(14km), 덤프리스셔, 스코틀랜드 남서부 갤러웨이에 있는 작은 마을이다.

이 마을은 150여 명으로 구성되어 있으며, 커뮤니티 운영 펍, 우체국, 다방이 [1]있다.그 마을은 매년 [2]8월에 갈라 행사를 개최한다.

이곳은 스코틀랜드 출신의 유일한 홀로코스트 희생자 10명 중 한 명인 스코틀랜드 교회 선교사 제인 헤이닝의 출생지이다.

던스코어 역은 1905년에 문을 열었고 1943년에 승객들을 위한 문을 닫았고 1949년에 화물들을 위한 문을 닫았다.그 역은 덤프리스에서 모니아이브로 가는 케언 밸리 철도에 있었다.

어원학

던스코어라는 이름은 컴브릭에서 유래했으며, d formedn 'fort'와 * *sgor 'fortification, rampart'[3][4] 요소에서 형성되었다.William J. Watson은 "방벽 또는 성벽의 요새"[5]라는 의미를 제안합니다.

오랫동안 버려졌던 던스코어 올드 커크는 파딩웰 농장 근처, 로버트 번즈의 엘리스랜드 농장과 로버트 퍼거슨의 "섬 타워" 사이에 위치해 있었다.

톰슨의 1832년 지도에서 엘리스랜드는 "엘리스랜드"[7]로 표기되었고 섬 타워 옆에 있었다.

'래그 무덤의 은신처'는 존속한 '던스코어 올드 커크' 매장지에 있으며, 로버트 번즈의 측근인 글렌리드델의 로버트 리델 선장의 무덤도 있다.

이 교회는 2017년에 유산 센터로 재건되었으며 던스코어 태생의 제인 [8]헤이닝에 대한 정보를 담고 있다.
