우드마르 몰(Woodmar Mall)은 인디애나주 해먼드의 165번가와 167번가 사이 인디애나폴리스 대로변에 위치한 실내 쇼핑몰이었다. 1954년에 개업하여 카슨피리 스콧과 코퍼레이션에 의해 정박되었다. 쇼핑몰은 2018년까지[2] 문을 연 카슨 매장이 2019년 철거된 것을 제외하고 2006년[1] 문을 닫고 철거했다.[3] 이 부지는 현재 해먼드 스포츠플렉스와 커뮤니티 센터가 차지하고 있다.

역사

시카고에 본사를 둔 개발사 랜도 앤 헤이먼은 1953년 인디애나주 해먼드 우드마르 인근 지역에 있는 20에이커의 부지를 구입했다.[4] 그들은 Carson Pirie Scott와 Co. 상점을 중앙에 두고 쇼핑몰을 "v"로 디자인한 건축가 Victor Gruen에게 의뢰했다.[5] 이 쇼핑센터는 300만 달러를 들여 건립되었으며, 1954년 초 J.J.뉴베리, 내셔널 슈퍼마켓 등 8개 점포가 입점했다. 그해 5월 19일 14개 점포가 추가로 문을 열었다.[4] 카슨의 매장은 인디애나주에 시카고에 본사를 둔 상인이 설립한 최초의 매장으로 1954년 11월 1일 문을 열었다.[6] 1964년, 카슨의 상점은 3층이 추가되면서 6만 5천 평방 피트 에서 11만 5천 평으로 확장되었다.[7] 이듬해, 그 상가는 폐쇄되었다.[4]

일리노이주 칼루멧시티의 리버오크스센터와 인디애나주 호바트의 사우스레이크몰은 장기 경쟁으로 우드마르로부터 멀어져 쇼핑몰의 쇠퇴로 이어졌다.[4] 2004년까지 12개 미만의 상점들이 문을 열었다.[13] 2006년 2월에는 카슨 매장을 제외한 상가 철거 결정이 내려졌다.[14] 해먼드 재개발위원회는 2016년 6월 옛 상가 부지에 1200만 달러 규모의 스포츠 단지가 들어서는 계획을 발표했다.[15] 카슨 매장은 모회사 청산 일환으로 2018년 문을 닫았다.[2][16] 해먼드 스포츠플렉스&커뮤니티센터는 2018년 9월 옛 우드마르몰 부지에 문을 열었다.[17] 옛 카슨 매장의 철거는 2019년 8월부터 시작됐다.[3]
