막달라

The Magdala
마그달라, 2008년

'막달라 선술집'이나 구어적으로 '막달라 선술집'이라고도 불리는 막달라는 함프스테드의 사우스힐 공원에 있는 공공주택으로, 1868년 막달라 전투에서 영국이 승리하면서 붙여진 이름이다.[1][2]이후 영국에서는 마지막으로 처형된 여성 루스 엘리스가 1955년 남자친구에게 총격을 가한 술집이라는 악명이 붙었다.[3]

마그달라는 2014년 개장을 위해 문을 닫은 뒤 2015년 1월 다시 문을 연 뒤 2016년 2월 다시 문을 닫았고,[3] 상층은 평지로 개조됐다.[4]2021년 5월 다시 펍 겸 레스토랑으로 재개장했다.[5]

마그달라는 2014년 9월부터 지역사회 가치의 자산으로 등재되었다.[4]
