타우 타우리는 타우루스자리 별자리에 있는 4중 항성계통이다[5].그것은 육안으로 보기에 4.33의 조합된 명백한 시각적 크기를 가진 희미한 빛의 지점으로 보인다.[14]이 시스템까지의 거리는 시차를 기준으로 약 400광년이다.[1]이 시스템은 지구에서 +14.6km/s의 태양 중심 방사 속도로 더 멀리 이동하고 있으며,[7] 오리온과 타우러스 사이에 위치한 타우리온 OB 협회의 일원이다.[15]황경에서 북쪽으로 0.7도 떨어져 있어 달의 발암에 걸린다.[4]

청백색 일차인 성분인 AA는 B형 주계열성으로 B3V의 등급이 현란하다.[3]1903년 미국 천문학자 에드윈 B에 의해 근접한 분광 이항인 것으로 밝혀졌다. 프로스트와 월터 S. 아담스. 이 쌍은 궤도 주기가 2.96일이고 이심률은 0.05일이다.[8]두 번째 동반자인 백후 성분인 Ab는 58년 궤도에서 1차로부터 규모 6.97과 각도 분리 0.2"를 가진다.[16][5]이것은 아마도 A0V–A2V 등급의 A형 주계열성일 것이다.[4]더 먼 성분 B는 A1V 항성으로 진도 7.2와 분리가 62.8"[5]이다.
